Stepping Out in Style: A Penguin-palooza
Mon-Sat, 10am-5pm; Sun Noon-5pm.
We’ll soon celebrate all things penguin, and why not? Over the years our tuxedoed friends have captured the imaginations of everyone from explorers and scientists to cartoonists and filmmakers. This exhibit will feature an array of historical and contemporary art and information on the many varieties of penguin.

In Depth Drawing
Tuesdays, 9am-11:30am
Students will be introduced to the understanding of proportion, values and composition. The drawings lessons will look to artists that excelled in making decisions regarding the highlighted techniques. A focus will be made towards developing thoughtful planning of the full page and developing compositions. All drawings will be done in black and white.

Making Art Count (MAC)!
Mondays, 10am-noon
This fine arts program for ages 55 and over, will advance the individual in the study, execution and performance of painting and drawing. Each person can work in their desired medium. The teacher demonstrates in various mediums such as watercolor, acrylic, pastel, pencil, charcoal, and oil. Each student is helped to work at his or her personal level.

History Continues: Contemporary African American Artists
Six young emerging African American artists from the Baltimore/DC area will display contemporary works that contain a connections between African American history and current events and culture. Participating artists: Maya Freelon Asante, Michael Booker, Shaunte Gates, Jeffrey Kent, and Jamea Richmond-Edwards.

Mondays & Wednesdays, 9am-11:30am or noon-2:30pm
Begin or enhance your artistic journey with my hands on guidance, inspiration & techniques. Beginners will learn steps to execute a completed painting from conception through completion. Experienced painters will learn tips to boost their skills and personal style.

Help us celebrate the kick off of our second season in Downtown Salisbury! Three of our 2016 bands are donating their time to rock the Downtown at this FREE EVENT. Seriously. We’re not charging admission this year. But bring some cash because there will still be plenty of ways to support 1S. There will be a chance auction, silent auction, 50/50 raffle, cake walk, games and we’ll be accepting donations. More info to come!

BOXER SHORTS II: from water to dust
A cycle of four short plays by hispanic playwrights including José Rivera, Nilo Cruz, María Irene Fornés, and Caridad Svich presented by Brown Box and Ícaro Teatro.

Opening in Boston February 26, Headquarters Live on March 10, and the Art League of Ocean City MD on March 11. We will then travel to Querétaro, Mexico to perform at the Querétaro Teatro Metropolitano (QTM)

Learn the brush and color mixing techniques and history from the Impressionist masters. We will look at their works to see the right approach to develop a successful painting. Students will be working from photographs and painting in the Impressionist style.

Students entering K-3rd grade will explore some unique approaches and inspirations to developing their art while exploring different mediums. Students will be able to be creative and have fun with weekly guided lessons inspired by artists, styles, history or geography.
